Recent Debates

As is the norm with Private Member Debate sessions, a lively time was had by all. The motion proposed by Murray Roxburgh, with credit to comedian Billy Connolly, duly noted led to a wide ranging debate not only on discrimination and bans in general but also the quality of our politicians and what can be done to improve the role they play. With no ammendments to the bill being allowed, and being voted on its original wording the nays had it!

A second debate, proposed by Baillie John McLaughlin, on the banning of mobile phones on public transport also led to some excellent non party debating as well as a large amount of good humour and mischief making!

The meeting closed with the announcement of the SNP's motion for the next meeting. After tonights good humoured event its back to more serious matters with the motion being "This House condemns the Westminster Government for financing a replacement for Trident considering the expense in the current financial climate"
